LAHORE - Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust Chairman and The Nation Editor-in-Chief Dr Majid Nizami Tuesday said that we must remain vigilant against any mischievous act that the new Narendra Modi government may possibly commit against Pakistan.
Dr Nizami expressed these views while addressing “The Possible Impact of the New Indian Government on the Region” at a special sitting held at the Aiwan-i-Karkuaan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan jointly organised by the Trust and the Pakistan Movement Workers Trust.
“Before the solution of all the underlying issues, we mustn’t entertain idea of striking a friendship or trade deal with India,” Dr Nizami added. Quaid-e-Azam’s terming Kashmir the jugular vein of Pakistan was the exact reflection of aspirations of the people of Pakistan, he held.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Dr Rafique Ahmad, Mian Habib Ullah, Brig (r) Farooque Hamid Khan, Farooque Khan Azad, Lt Gen Zulfikar Ali Khan and Maulana Amir Hamza. Those who attended the event included Maj¬ Gen (r) Rahat Latif, Maulana Muhammad Shafi Josh, Muhammad Yasin Watto, Shehzadi Shamim Akbar, Aziz Zafar Azad, Begum Mehnaz Rafi, Engr Muhammad Tufail Malik, Raja Shehzad, Barkaat Mehmud Khan along with a large number of students, teachers and people from different walks of life. Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust Secretary Shahid Rashid conducted the proceedings of the event.
According to the speakers, the victory of an extremist and fanatic Hindu party was, in fact, a defeat of the age-old ideology of India viz secularism. The anti-Muslim sentiment, if it was allowed to gather momentum, could spark the creation of another Pakistan.
The speakers were unanimous in commending and acclaiming the forewarnings that Dr Majid Nizami has been issuing throughout his journalistic career against the malafide designs of India.
A proposal to establish a think tank was presented to the government by Mian Habib Ullah, so that the intellectuals and statesmen of the country could analyze the national and international events and come up with the best possible solutions.
