LAHORE - The traders of provincial capital observed partial strike against killing of their fellow shopkeeper of Sahah Alam Market, as the markets of only walled city remained shut on Wednesday.
The markets and bazaars which were closed to protest the killing of Najam Qutab Jaggu, included Shah Alam Market, Kashmiri Bazaar, Landa Bazaar, Dabbi Bazaar, Soha Bazaar, Azam Cloth Market and Rang Mahal Market while rest of the city major markets like Urdu Bazaar, Anarkali, Hall Road, The Mall and Mcload Road remained open.
It is to be noted that All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran President Khalid Pervaiz on Tuesday claimed that traders of the whole city will keep their shops shut in protest of murder of an innocent trader by the provincial govt administration. He said traders boards of all markets have unanimously decided to close their markets on Wednesday to lodge protest against cruelty and barbarism of Punjab government.
The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry has expressed shock and sorrow over the death of renowned trader of Shahalam Market Najam Qutab Jaggu and urged the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif to constitute a high-powered committee to probe the matter. President Ijaz A. Mumtaz said that sudden death of Najam Jaggu has caused anxiety in the business doing circles. He said that an independent and impartial investigation into this tragedy is a must which will enable the Punjab government to bring those responsible for it to justice without delay.
Pakistan Industrial & Traders Associations Front (PIAF) has also condemned the killing of trader and expressed disappointment over (walled city authority) local government’s failure to interact with trade and industry business people.
The members of PIAF demanded strict action against administration of walled city authority administration who had failed to deal the certain issues with business community people.
