LAHORE - Devotees kept on reaching Data Darbar on the second day of 973rd Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri Data Gunj Baksh yesterday.
As the Urs of the great Sufi saint of subcontinent is concluding today, the Lahore district government has announced a local holiday.
According to the notification, all offices and educational institutes of district level will remain closed on Monday. Local holiday will not be applicable on Civil Secretariat employees and its related staff. The celebrations of Data Ganj Bakhsh’s 973 Urs were started on Saturday started with recitation from the Holy Quran and Na’at. After laying the wreath, prayers were offered for the solidarity and security of the country and success of operation Zarb-i-Azb. A milk sabeel was also inaugurated.
The Punjab government has made special security arrangements and security officials deputed on roof tops of adjacent buildings of Data Darbar. Five-tier security measures have been taken and 1,000 surveillance cameras were installed to monitor the Urs celebrations.
The Lesco, Wasa, Civil Defence Department, Rescue-1122 and the Health Department have set up camps to facilitate devotees.
Hundreds of Mashaikh, religious scholars and Naat khawans and thousands of devotees of Hazrat Ali Hajveri from across the country and abroad are participating in the Urs.
