PAT supports provincial status for Fata

LAHORE  - The Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has supported the provincial status to Fata.
The PAT will support if Fata be announced a separate province but it should be decided after referendum in the federal administrated tribal area, PAT spokesperson Noorullah Sidduqi quoted party chief Dr Tahirul Qadri as saying.
The right to decision on Fata status should finally be given to the people of the area, Dr Qadri said, adding if they wanted to be the part of KPK then their decision must be given respect. He also emphasized the need for creation of new provinces on administrative basis.
“The size of the provinces must be reduced to solve the governance problem. The centralisation of power and one man show is creating multiple problems in Pakistan.”
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the PAT asked the PPP to include Model Town Incident on its protest agenda if the latter wanted to act as an opposition party.
PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari talked about Model Town Incident after a year but despite this PAT is appreciating his act, it stated. The PAT demanded of the PPP not to issue mere statement but also to take some practical steps and include the incident in its protest agenda.
