LAHORE - A cook killed a housemaid over resistance during an alleged effort of rape in Defense B Area, police said on Wednesday. The deceased later was identified as Mumtaz Bibi, 28. The police investigators said the accused Mohammad Azam, cook at the same house, tried to capture the woman while she was working in kitchen and forced her for illicit relations. He stabbed the woman in the chest when she refused doing so and as a result of which she sustained severe injuries, police investigator further said. As per details, Sheikh Mohammad Ramzan, the owner of the house, had hired the services of two sisters namely Mumtaz Bibi and Ameeran Bibi as housemaids some months back. The accused Mohammad Azam had also been working at the house since long. Police investigators said the accused also rushed the injured woman to the General Hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead. The accused, however, managed to flee from the crime scene. An Edhi ambulance shifted the body to the city morgue for autopsy. The police have also registered a murder case against the accused on the statement of Ameeran Bibi with no arrest till filing of this report. Further investigations were underway.
