LAHORE: Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Kh Salman Rafiq has directed the officials to accelerate the pace of registration of blood banks for ensuring safe blood transfusion to the patients.
Chairing a meeting of Punjab Blood Transfusion Authority (PBTA) at Institute of Blood Transfusion on Monday, he said that stringent action would be taken against unregistered blood banks. Parliamentary Secretary Health Kh Imran Nazir, MPA Dr Nadia Aziz, DG Health Punjab Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Additional Secretary Health (Technical) Dr Salman Shahid Secretary PBTA Dr Jaffar Saleem, Professors of Haematology of PGMI, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Services Hospital and representatives of Pakistan Red Crescent Society, Fatmeed Foundation, CMH Lahore, Shaikh Zayed Hospital and Punjab AIDS Control Programme attended the meeting.
The meeting recommended strict action against substandard and fake blood banks.
Kh Salman Rafiq said that all the blood banks in public and private sector would be registered. He directed making special arrangements to mark World Blood Donors Day on June 24.–Staff Reporter

Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Kh Salman Rafiq gave Rs 50 million cheque as grant to a representative of Shalimar Trust Hospital at DG Health Office on Monday. Parliamentary Secretary Health Kh Imran Nazir, DG Health Dr Zahid Pervaiz and other senior officers were also present.
Kh Salman Rafiq said that Punjab government would continue to patronize and provide financial assistance to institutions rendering valuable services to the humanity. He said that Shalimar Trust Hospital was upgrading different specialties including cardiac facilities. He said that the government was considering to double the annual grant of Shalimar Hospital.–Staff Reporter
