LAHORE - The government has expressed its willingness to consider PTI chief Imran Khan’s most pressing demand, in a key development towards the end of ongoing political turmoil in Pakistan.

According to our sources, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership has considered PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s proposal regarding assurances to Imran Khan about Prime Minister’s resignation.

Also, if the commission’s findings held Nawaz Sharif responsible for rigging in the 2013 general elections, the country’s all-powerful military has signaled to play its role as guarantor for PM’s resignation.

Khan refused to accept the judicial guarantee in election dispute with the government, blaming former chief justice for playing a role in vote rigging.

The two sides will resume talks today through their mediators in Islamabad.
