LAHORE - On the Royal Palm Golf Course which carries the dramatic effect of loveliness, 72 golfers of talent matched their golfing abilities over an 18 holes Eithad International Golf Challenge Tournament, where the honor of competing was all important. While many ended up as the marginal losers, the contrast of excellence was provided by Rana Abrar who won this tournament with a card of net 66. Rana showed sufficient steadiness during the 18 holes contest and though the occasional lapses were there on holes 8, 12 and 13, he showed remarkable recovery power and his hitting on hole numbers 3, 4, 5,6,9,16,17 and 18 were a classic example of full golfing. The other participants who commanded interest were Shahid Abbas net 68, Agha Asad net 69, Asad Tariq net 69, Rizwan Afzal net 69, Hashim Sabir net 70, Waqar Saigol net 70 and Qaiser Nazir net 71. Suddenly the game was impressive and the golf competition to come, one hopes they will be able to achieve victories by overcoming the resolute opposition they will be up against. Amongst other prominent participants, Wasim Akram played well and so did Ramzan Sheikh and Farid Bajwa. As per rule of the tournament Rana Abrar will have a chance to go to Dubai in middle January if his name comes out of the lucky draw. Similar tournaments are being held at 49 golf clubs of the world and out of the 50 winners, the two lucky ones will be entitled to avail a visit to Dubai on the occasion of The Dubai Golf Championship. At the conclusion of the tournament, Col. Jameed Khalid, Director Royal Palm Golf distributed prizes to the winners.
