Corruption weakened foundations of country

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting at Chief Ministers Secretariat here on Monday directed to review the pace of implementation of land record computerization, management information system project and took a number of important decisions in this regard. The meeting decided that this programme will be started as pilot project in Lahore and Lodharan districts. A steering committee was also constituted for implementation, monitoring and dealing with technical, legal, software and other affairs regarding the project. The meeting also decided to constitute three sub-committees for software, monitoring and implementation. The chief minister addressing the meeting said that corruption has weakened the foundations of the country and reformation of the system is a collective responsibility and every effort will be made in this regard. He said land record computerization project is of vital importance for saving general public and farmers from Patwaris, Gardawars and other officials of Revenue Department as well as checking forgery of property deeds. He said that the project will be completed in a transparent manner and representatives of corporate sector associated with information technology have been invited for implementation of the project in an efficient manner. He said that this programme will be started as pilot project in district Lahore of northern Punjab and district Lodhran of southern Punjab and later its scope will be extended to the whole province. He said that a steering committee has also been constituted in which administrative officers, IT experts and representatives of corporate sector will be inducted. He said that committee will evolve a complete roadmap within two days with regard to land record computerization project in the light of which further progress will be made. He said that early completion of land record computerization project in a transparent manner is our responsibility for facilitating the people in acquiring copies of their property deeds and to check the nefarious business of forgery in this regard. He stressed upon corporate sector associated with information technology to come forward and supplement the efforts of Punjab government with commitment and determination. The participants of the meeting submitted their proposals with regard to land record computerization project. Members of National and Provincial Assemblies, Additional Chief Secretary, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Secretary Information Technology, IT experts and representatives of corporate sector were present in the meeting.
