Faizan Peerzada passes away


LAHORE - Rafi Peer Theatre Director Faizan Pirzada, aged 52, passed away on Friday. He is survived by a wife and two children.
He was laid to rest at a local graveyard in the presence of his fans, friends and family. His Qul will be held tomorrow (Sunday) at his residence.
Tasneem Pirzada told The Nation that her brother (Faizan) had complained about chest pain when he returned earlier Friday. “We rushed him to hospital where he died. Doctors cited cardiac failure as the cause of death,” she said.
Born on October 4, 1958, Faizan Peerzada graduated from the National College of Arts and held around 60 exhibitions in the country and abroad.
He worked for the promotion of art. He had played an important role in promoting puppet theatre in Pakistan and South Asia. He introduced a number of Sufi singers as Tasneem Pirzada. He picked Sufi singers from shrines and introduced to the world. Despite, a number of security problems, he was always very much enthusiastic towards holding Sufi music festival.
