Reply sought from govt on Davis case handling by ISI

LAHORE The Lahore High Court on Monday sought reply from the respondent federal government through Deputy Attorney General on another two petitions for seeking ISI handling of Raymond Davis case as well as shifting of the double murder accused from Kot Lakhpat jail to Lahore Fort jail. One of the petitioners also urged the court to take the diplomatic record pertaining to Davis into possession so that it could not tampered with at any level. Barrister Javed Iqbal Jafree and Rana Ilamuddin advocate have moved the petitions which came up for hearing before Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry, who handed over the copies to DAG Naveed Inayat Malik to argue and file a reply to that on March 14. Ghazi seeks judicial directions for shifting the double murder accused Raymond Davis to Lahore Fort and asked the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) to hold inquiry into this case. He said the location of the present jail wherein the accused is lodged, is at a considerable distance from the main city which could help his escape. He alleged that the accused was in Pakistan on some special mission against the interest of Pakistan as such the ISI may be directed to handle his case in order to understand the facts from the bottom after illegal weapons, and other sophisticated spywares were recovered from his possession. The petitioner says the documents recovered from Davis proved that he was a mastermind of terror acts in Pakistan. The accused was a trained shooter and this expertise is not necessary for an ambassador, he adds. Barrister Jaffrey submitted that all certified copies of diplomatic record, if any, of Raymond Allen Davis be submitted to the court immediately to stop issuance of the same in the backdates by way of forgery and tampering. Jaffrey said in the larger interests of the justice, the court should issue a preemptive order to the government against possible tempering with the US citizens record to his benefit.
