LAHORE – The Punjab government is taking revolutionary measures for the provision of modern education, health and other basic amenities to the masses at their doorstep and billions of rupees have been utilised for this purpose, according to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
The government, he said, had presented a model of good governance through its public-welfare projects. He was talking to assembly members from various districts who called on him here on Tuesday. Pace of implementation of development projects and public welfare schemes were the topic of their discussions. National Assembly Opposition Leader Ch. Nisar Ali Khan was also present.
The CM said his government was striving to raise the lot of the masses. The credit for paying a special attention to the development of Southern Punjab, he said, “goes to his government. He said that free educational facilities are being provided to 1.1 million deserving students through Punjab Education Foundation.
Similarly, he said, a new hope has been given to as many as 1.1 million poor students through meeting their educational needs with a sum of Rs10 billion and now no deserving student will remain deprived of education due to poverty or shortage of resources.
The CM further said that government has provided shelter to the shelterless through Aashiyana Housing Scheme through and the dream of low-income people, especially the salaried classes of having their own house has been realised. Those who met the CM included Rana Nazir Ahmed, Waseem Akhter Sheikh and Adil Husian Utra.
