LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif asked the authorities concerned to improve intelligence sharing system in order to curb terrorism and maintain peace effectively. He said that all-out measures are being adopted for maintaining peace and tranquility besides imparting training to the police on modern lines. He said the police are being provided with latest weapons while special anti-terrorism force has also been set up.Presiding over a high-level meeting on law and order, the CM directed the police to efficiently perform their duties for protecting the citizens and improving law and order in the province. He said that peace is essential for national progress and prosperity. He directed that law enforcement agencies should remain fully alert in view of recent incidents while intelligence sharing system could be made more effective. The CM directed that stern action be taken against the elements fanning religious hatred. He said that a vigilant eye should be kept on miscreants and anti-state elements while hotels, guest houses, inns and other public places would be thoroughly checked. He warned that the elements playing with innocent lives deserved no leniency, and would be dealt with an iron hand. Shahbaz said that police and law enforcement agencies should take all possible measures for ensuring peace. He said nothing is more important than maintenance of law and order and all-out resources would be provided for this purpose. He said that recent incidents of terrorism are highly deplorable.
