Qatar to fund projects in Bhakkar and Jhang

LAHORE - Jassim and Hamed Bin Jassim Foundation of Qatar has signed an MoU with Punjab government for establishing two 150-bed hospitals, health centers and schools in the backward areas of Bhakkar and Jhang.
This foundation will provide funds for establishing hospitals, health centers and schools in both the districts and will also bear the running expenditures of the institutions for two to three years. These facilities will later be handed over to Punjab government.
During a meeting with Adviser to CM on Health Kh Salman Rafiq and other officials at CM Secretariat on Wednesday, foundation’s CEO Saeed Mathkar A Alhajri said that the focus of the foundation was mother and child healthcare and special facilities including labour rooms. Saeed Mathkar, Punjab Health Secretary Jawad Rafiq Malik and Schools Secretary Abdul Jabbar Shaheen signed the MoU.
Mathkar said that the people of Qatar and the foundation would be pleased to extend cooperation to Pakistan in the social sector. He added that his foundation would also provide ambulances for the centers and a delegation from Qatar would visit Lahore within two weeks to finalize the matters.
Kh Salman appreciated the humanitarian services of the foundation and thanked the CEO for extending generous cooperation. He said that healthcare services would improve in Bhakkar and Jhang districts after setting up new healthcare centres.
The health adviser reiterated the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government’s resolve to bring in health reforms in the country. He also counted  Punjab CM’s endeavours to better health service in the province.
