‘CPEC must benefit all provinces’

LAHORE - The government must remove concerns of political parties about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route by holding extensive consultations rather than terming them traitors.
Speaking at a sitting organised by Nawa-i-Waqt on Thursday, leaders from different political parties appealed to the government to not make the multi-billion dollar projects controversial by bursting out on opposition.
“Kasghar-Gawadar route should not be made controversial like that of Kalabagh Dam,” they suggested.
Those who participated in the sitting included PTI Punjab president Ijaz Chaudhry, JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch, PPP coordinator Naved Chaudhary and ANP central leader Ehsan Wayen.
Commending the briefing of Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal in the latest All Parties Conference (APC), the speakers urged the prime minister and other political leadership to be aware of the nefarious elements weaving their evil plans to obstruct development in Pakistan.
“This is a project for the whole country but people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are having their concerns which need to be removed, so that the mega project should go ahead with national consensus,” they stressed.
