LAHORE - Punjab Ombudsman Javed Mahmood has declared 15th of every month as “Pensioner’s Day” in all offices of Ombudsman and directed Advisor Wazir Ahmad Qureshi, Incharge “Mohtasib Punjab Pension Cell” to organise open court on every 15th.
“Pensioner’s Day” will also be celebrated at Regional Offices of Punjab Ombudsman at Multan, Sargodha and Rawalpindi and Member In-charge concerned will welcome pensioners and retired employees of the Punjab government. In case of holiday on 15th, “Pensioner’s Day” will be celebrated on the next working day, says the ombudsman. A notification in this regard has been issued.
Decision to celebrate “Pensioner’s Day” on every 15th is just to give respect, honour and relief to the retired employees who dedicated their youth and valuable period to serve the nation and country.
“The pensioners are not only retired civil servants but also senior citizens of the country and I have only done my duty by dedicating a day to resolve their issues,” says the ombudsman.
