Two newborn girls found dumped in Lahore

LAHORE - Two newborn girls were found dumped in different parts of the provincial metropolis, police said on Saturday.
The investigators say the baby girls, recovered from Nishtar Colony and Lytton Road police limits are in healthy state.
Some passersby spotted the baby girls lying on the garbage and informed the police. The baby girl were found in the Sui Gas Society located at the Ring Road was handed over to the Edhi Home administration while the police recovered another girl from the Choburgi Chowk and shifted her to the Mayo Hospital.  The police have registered two separate cases against unidentified person and are investigating.
The police believe that no other than the parents threw the baby girls because of poverty. Every year the police report dozens of such cases in Lahore but on one is arrested or convicted ever. Such happenings are not rare in this male-dominated society, where even educated and civilised families prefer boys to girls.
Double murder
Two private security guards opened fire on each other as they clashed over a dispute in the Chuhng police area on Saturday. Both of them sustained serious bullet wounds and were rushed to a hospital but passed away on the way.
The police said a 45-year-old security guard was on duty outside the house of Malik Munir in the Park View Housing Society when some guards of the society appeared there. They exchanged harsh words with the private guard of Malik Munir.
 The guard of Malik Munir got infuriated and opened fire on one of the security guards of the society.
The injured guard also fire at his opponent. As a result, both sustained bullet wounds and were rushed to a hospital but expired in the way.
The police have removed the bodies to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating.
