LAHORE - Chief Minister’s health adviser Kh Salman Rafiq has directed continuing zero period in schools for creating awareness regarding Congo virus on the pattern of dengue.
Chairing a meeting yesterday, the adviser directed the officials to ensure implementation on all the decisions taken at the meeting. Primary and Secondary Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan, Health DG Dr Mukhtar Hussain Syed, Lahore DCO Capt (r) Muhammad Usman, Sheikhupura DCO Tariq Arqum and other officials attended the meeting.
Commissioners and DCOs of Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Jhelum and Attock participated through video link and apprised the meeting of Congo virus and dengue situation in their respective areas.
The medical experts were of the view that early diagnosis was essential for the treatment of Congo. CDC Director Dr Asim informed the meeting that case management training of Congo patient has been imparted to the doctors of teaching hospitals in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and Bahawalpur. He said that members of rapid response teams were also attending the training session.
The DCO informed that the city district government has carried out spray on animals to eliminate ticks. This exercise would be continued till Eid-ul-Azha, he added and stressed the need of creating awareness regarding Congo fever among common people specially butchers, cattle farmers, cattle handlers and other people related to this fields.
