LAHORE - Punjab Governor and Chancellor Lahore College for Women University Sardar Latif Khosa inaugurated Ottak-e-Iran Shanasi (Iranology Centre) at the varsity’s Persian department on Wednesday.The centre has been provided with computers, LCD TV, a water dispenser by the Iran Government to familiarise the women graduates and faculty of LCWU with the culture of Iran, so that they can take due advantage of this facility available at their doorstep. On this occasion the governor said Pak-Iran relationship was deeply rooted by their common history and heritage, faith, culture and traditions. He said both countries’ geographical proximity links their security interests while giving more depth and meaning to bilateral ties. He said both countries relations were time tested and have maintained their bilateral relations, in our atmosphere of Islamic brotherhood and as good neighbours. He further said this centre would further facilitate in strengthening the mutual ties of collaboration between Iran and Pakistan.“Ottak-e- Iran Shanasi” is a reflection of Iranian support in uplifting the stature of Persian Language and Literature in Pakistan. Iran Consulate Muhammad Hussain Bari Asadi, Director General Iran Cultural Centre Dr Abbas Ali Famori and LCWU Vice Chancellor Dr Sabia Mansoor also addressed the gathering.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
