Incentives for docs of underdeveloped districts

LAHORE - Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Kh Salman Rafiq has said that the provincial government has started implementing Punjab Health Reforms Roadmap for ensuring provision of better health facilities to the patients at public sector hospitals.
Chairing a meeting of medical superintendents of government hospitals in Gujranwala Division on Sunday, the adviser said that vacant posts of medical officers and specialists would be filled in public sector hospitals and a special package of incentives would be given to the doctors in underdeveloped districts.
Secretary Health Jawwad Rafiq Malik, Commissioner Gujranwala Division Shumail Ahmad Kh, Parliamentary Secretary Health Kh Imran Nazir, DCOs of Gujranwala division, DG Health Dr Zahid Pervaiz, elected representatives, EDOs Health and officers of the development departments attended the meeting.
Kh Salman Rafiq said that procurement of medicines would be completed in all government hospitals by March 31. He said that Rs 916 million would be spent on the improvement of infrastructure and provision of bio-medical equipotent to the hospitals. He said that there were so many challenges which have to be redressed.
He said that a comprehensive development plan for primary and secondary healthcare has been introduced through which the capacity of hospitals would be significantly enhanced. He said that consultants would be appointed in all DHQs and THQs hospitals for which CM has already approved a package of special incentives while strict monitoring of the hospitals would also be carried out.
Secretary Health briefed the participants about the measure for improvement of government hospitals. He said that all vacant posts of MOs/WMOs in BHUs and RHCs would be filled by March 31 through walk-in interviews policy. He said that 100% availability of 18 essential medicines would also be ensured at the centers and district governments could purchase locally these medicines from the market for which funds have already been released. He said that 24 hours delivery/ labour room facility would be provided in 550 BHUs under 24/7 programme.
He informed that doctors would be recruited through PPSC and by promotion at 700 vacant seats of specialist doctors in 36 DHQs and 109 THQs hospitals. He said that government has announced attractive package for the doctors to overcome the shortage in far-flung areas. He said that these doctors would be given Rs. 30,000 to 60,000 per month according to the laid down criteria.
UP-GRADATION: Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab Kh Salman Raffique has said that Rural Health Center “Major Shabir Sharif Shaheed” (Nishan-e-Haider) Kunjah, Gujrat would be upgraded to 40-bed Tehsil Headquarter Hospital level.
Talking to the media persons after visiting the RHC, he said that PC-I of the project has been approved on which work would be started soon. Commissioner Gujranwala Division, Secretary Health, Parliamentary Secretary Health, DG Health, DCO Gujrat and EDO Health were also present.
Salman Rafiq visited different wards of the RHC and inquired after the health of the patients. He also inspected proposed site for the new building of THQ hospital.
