CM?set for 'merited Daanish School jobs

LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said Daanish Schools will not only provide quality education to the poorest students of backward areas but will also enhance their respect. Presiding over a meeting with regard to Daanish Schools here on Saturday, he said, Setting up of such prestigious institutions will remove the deprivations of the students of low-developed areas and after getting higher education, they will play their role for the development and progress of the country. After Rahim Yar Khan, Daanish Schools will be inaugurated in Hasilpur and Chishtian next month whereas projects of four more Daanish Schools will be completed in DG Khan, Attock, Mianwali and Rajanpur this year. He further said the country could be put on the road to progress without eliminating ignorance and illiteracy and keeping in view the importance of education sector, the Punjab government had made it its top priority. He said these educational institutions would promote education in every nook and corner of the province. All appointments and admissions of students in the Daanish Schools have been made on merit, he said, while asserting that board of governors of these schools should be made powerful in every respect and a comprehensive system should also be evolved for financial resources and monitoring of these schools. Shahbaz directed to constitute a committee, which would submit its recommendations within ten days with regard to running all affairs of Daanish Schools smoothly. He said the vast land adjacent to Daanish Schools could be utilised for livestock, dairy development, agriculture and commercial purposes for making it a permanent source of financial resources for these schools and the committee should also keep this aspect in view. Meanwhile, the CM presided over a meeting to review the pace of work on the Aashiyana Housing Project here on Saturday. Addressing the meeting, he said the Aashiyana Housing Project was a revolutionary project of the Punjab government, which would materialise the dream of low-income people of having their own house. Low-cost housing scheme has been started from Lahore and its scope will be extended to all cities of the province. The process of identifying land for low-cost housing schemes under the project is going on throughout the province. The allotment of houses will be made through balloting in a very transparent manner and a quota has also been reserved for widows, orphans and martyrs in these schemes. Provision of all basic amenities would be ensured in low-cost housing schemes. The CM directed to accelerate the pace of work on the project so that houses could be made available to the low-income people at the earliest.
