LAHORE - Provincial Minister for Education Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman has said that education is the top priority of the government and it is also awarding cash prizes and scholarships to brilliant boy and girl students. He said 10 lakh children had enrolled in schools this year as a result of primary enrolment campaign of the government. He said 25 lakh male and female students were benefiting annually from the project of setting up of IT labs in schools while scholarships are being given to more than 30 thousand boy and girl students from Punjab Educational Endowment Fund. He expressed these views at a prize distribution ceremony held in honour of the winners of Brain of Lahore quiz competition at the Trust School Aamir Town, Harbuns Pura. The Minister said that the Brain of Lahore competition arranged among the most brilliant students of 296 schools of Lahore is unprecedented. Congratulating “Brain of Lahore 2012” Sauda Ibrahim on her success, he said that intelligent students are the asset of the nation and the government has made available all its resources for polishing their talent. He said that extra-curricular activities side by side academic activities play an important role in the balanced development of human personality. Keeping in view this fact, he said, Chief Minister Punjab is taking keen interest in promotion of sports as well as holding of speech and essay writing competitions among students.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
