Unhygienic edibles spreading hepatitis

OKARA - Hepatitis B and C is rapidly spreading among the masses here mainly because of unhygienic food as a many people have lost their lives due to the fatal disease. The cause of dissemination of the disease is the sale of substandard eatables and unhygienic condition in and around the city restaurants where cleanliness is not cared for. Dirty towels are kept there without washing for months. Water for drinking is kept in dirty plastic drums and everybody has to drink water from there. Bakeries are selling substandard edible items which are cooked and baked in substandard ghee as there is no checks and balances. The Health Department does not inspect these items since the businessmen in connivance with the officials of the department destroying the citizens health. However, social circles have demanded that the Sahiwal Division commissioner should take notice of the situation. BUDGET PRAISED: Former MPA Mian Mohammad Munir said the Punjab Budget was people-friendly, adding that in the prevailing circumstances there may be no other budget better than the one presented by the Punjab government. He said that it would prove to be a milestone for social welfare and the development of the province.
