LAHORE - Tehrik-e-Pakistan gold medallist and ex-Director Quaid-e-Azam Academy Prof Shariful Mujahid has said that the Lahore Resolution was a prelude to the creation of Pakistan. He was speaking at a seminar on the completion of 70 years of adoption of Pakistan Resolution organised by the Nazria Pakistan Trust in collaboration with Tehrik-e-Pakistan Workers Trust at the Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan here on Monday. Syed Ahmad Saeed Kirmani presided over the seminar. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Shariful Mujahid said that the Resolution proposed partition of India for the first time saying that Muslims were separate nation than Hindus and it was not true that all the people living in Indian Subcontinent were one nation as explained in the manifesto of the Indian National Congress in 1885. Prior to this Allama Iqbal in his Allahbad Address of 1930 had proposed that there should be a Hindu India and a Muslim India. The All India Muslim League in the next 10 years finalised its agenda and it won in the 1946 elections with majority, he added. He said that Pakistan was a blessing of Allah and we should work hard for its progress. Dr Rafique Ahmad said that the British oppressed Muslims after 1857 War of Independence. After the first census, the British thought that Hindus would dominate through democracy as they were in majority. Hindus opposed the partition of Bengal. The Quaid tried to unite Hindus and Muslims but failed due to the Hindu inherent nature. He said if Hindus accept our identity today there would be peace in South Asia. He said that Pakistan was a hurdle in the promotion of Hinduism lest it could spread up to Middle East. Brig (r) Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry said that 1940 Resolution was known as Lahore Resolution but the Hindus named it Pakistan Resolution. Dr Akram Ikram Shah said that Islam was focal point before Allama Iqbal. All his thoughts were based on Islamic philosophy. Khutba Allahabad after 14 points of the Quaid rejected by Hindus became a hope for Muslims. Dr Parveen Khan said that the partitions main purpose was religion not political or economic reasons.
