RLF pledges support to Iftikhar

LAHORE - Lawyers have always played an important role in forming the history of any nation and our country is not an exception to it. Lawyers community stood like a solid rock against dictatorial regime of Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf and got the judiciary restored led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry. Iftikhar Shabbir Sayed, candidate for the slot of president for the forthcoming annual elections of the Lahore Tax Bar Association, said this on Monday while addressing lawyers community in a local hotel here in the city on the occasion of a lunch hosted by General Secretary Rights Lawyers Forum (RLF) Khursheed Iqbal Mughal in honour of the former. Member Punjab Bar Council Chaudhry Noor Samand Advocate, Member Punjab Bar Council Ghulam Murtaza Chaudhry Advocate, Ghazala Khan Advocate, Nisar Ahmad Kousar, for president Lahore Bar Association, Shafqat Mehmood Chohan Advocate, Afzal Pahat Advocate and NA Butt Advocate were also present on the occasion and pledged to support Syed Iftikhar Shabbir and other members of his panel. All office-bearers of the Right Lawyers Forum (RLF) were also present on the occasion. Other members of the democratic panel for the elections include Amir Shahzad, Ghulam Murtaza, Shakeel Basra and Farooq Majeed for the slots of vice president, general secretary, finance secretary and joint secretary respectively. The annual election of the Lahore Tax Bar Association will be held on March 31.
