LAHORE - A special sitting in connection with Pakistan Day was held at the Aiwan-i-Karkunaan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan Saturday. TheNation Editor-in-Chief Dr Majid Nizami chaired the event that was jointly organised by the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust and Pakistan Movement Workers Trust.
Speakers included NPT VP Dr Rafique Ahmad, Justice ( r ) Munir Ahmad Mughal, Prof Dr M A Sufi, Waleed Iqbal, former MNA Riaz Fatyana, Dr Parveen Khan, Molana Ameer Hamza and NPT Secretary Shahid Rasheed. People from all walks of life, teachers and students attended the sitting.
Prof Dr Rafique Ahmad spoke on the purpose of this seminar.
He said that the purpose of all the activities of the NPT was to create awareness among the new generation. He said that the Quaid, Allama Iqbal were the assets of this country adding Pakistan was the greatest assets. He said that the youth played an important role in the establishment of Pakistan. He said that the Lahore Resolution 1940 could be declared as the most important of the Pakistan Movement events.
Ameer Hamza while addressing “Islamic Aspects of the Lahore Resolution” said that Jamatud Dawa would strengthen the hands of Dr Nizami who had long been striving to revive Pakistan Ideology. He said that the two nation theory highlighted that the Muslims and Hindus were separate nations. He said that after the US forces leave this region, the Indian forces would do the same and leave Kashmir valley.
Waleed Iqbal advocate spoke on “The Basis of Lahore Resolution and Iqbal’s Alahabad 1930”. He said that the important of this resolution was not less than the Declaration of Indepedence in the US. He said that the Iqbal’s address and the Lahore Resolution were the same in many aspects.
Riaz Fatiana spoke on “The Objectives of Lahore Resolution—Establishment of Modern, Islamic and Democratic State”.
He said that the Pakistan ideology meant to create a modern state where Islamic principles were implemented.
NPT Secretary Shahid Rasheed said that the resolution for the establishment of a separate homeland for the Muslims of British India passed in the annual session of the All India Muslim League held in Lahore on 22nd March 1940. he sadi that the resolution was passed unanimously that was a landmark document of Pakistan’s history.t the passing of the resolution marked the transformation of the Muslim minority in British India into a nation with its distinguishing socio-cultural and political features. He said that they were striving hard to make the new generation aware of Pakistan Movement, Two Nation Theory and Objectives of the establishment of Pakistan.
