LAHORE- The ninth convocation of the Government College University Lahore (GCU) is going to be held on Friday December 3, 2010 at the universitys Bokhari Auditorium. The full-dress for the convocation will be held on Thursday, December 02. The history of the prize distribution ceremonies of the educational institution goes back to the eighteenth century. However, the first formal convocation of the Government College Lahore was held in April 1909. The then Lieutenant-Governor of Punjab Sir Louis Dane was the chief guest on this occasion. The educational institutions first convocation as the university was held in 2002. Talking about the arrangements of the 9th convocation of the university, GCU Controller Examinations A S Bokhari GCU Controller Examinations Ashraf Shabbir Bokhari said that all arrangements have been completed. About 900 students from graduation to PhD would receive degrees, academic medals and Rolls of Honour this year at the convocation. He said that the full-dress rehearsal for the convocation would be held on Dec 02 and the students have been informed in this regard. He said that position-holders, postgraduate students and medal-holders would be given degrees on December 03. However, the remaining degrees and rolls of hour would be conferred on students at a Prize Distribution Ceremony on December 04, 2009 at Bokhari Auditorium.
