Shahbaz lauds ulema for promoting religious harmony

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has paid tributes to Ulema of all schools of thought for displaying exemplary religious harmony, ensuring atmosphere of brotherhood and maintaining law and order throughout the province after Rawalpindi incident.
He said that after the tragic incident of Rawalpindi, the Ulema played a commendable role for making Jumatul Mubarik peaceful by rising above the sectarian differences which helped in ensuring peace throughout the province.
In a statement here on Friday, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that every Pakistani is grieved over the tragic incident of Rawalpindi and the culprits involved in this incident would not escape punishment.
He said that the country is passing through a critical juncture and terrorism has engulfed it. The Chief Minister said that in the present circumstances there is a greater need of brotherhood and unity and the situation demands that the entire nation should unite on one platform.
He said that on his appeal, Ulema of all schools of thought promoted sentiments of tolerance and patience and followed their religious and national responsibilities by promoting an atmosphere of peace on Jumatul Mubarik.
He said that the people of Pakistan have always played their due role for the stability of the country by rising above sectarian prejudices at every juncture of national history and expressed the hope that in future they will also promote mutual love and affection by maintaining unity in their ranks.
Shahbaz stressed the need for keeping a vigilant eye on the elements spreading hatred among the Muslims in view of the gravity of the situation so that the elements hatching conspiracies for creating rift between the Muslims could not succeed in their nefarious designs.
