LAHORE - The counter terrorism department of Punjab police yesterday claimed to have arrested a terror suspect during a special operation in Bahawalpur district.

The suspect was named by CTD officials as Muhammad Yaseen, said to be a member of the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. According to a spokesman, the raided was conducted on a tip-off.

During the raid, the CTD team also seized 1700 grams of explosive material, detonators, and ball bearings and other articles used for IED. A case was registered with the CTD police and further investigations were underway.

The spokesman further said that the suspect was planning to carry out a “terror activity” by targeting an Imambargah in Bahawalpur district.
