LAHORE: Security was intensified across the Punjab capital on Saturday with massive deployment of police commandoes as former president Asif Ali Zardari spent a busy day in Lahore.
Heavy police contingents were deployed on the routes of the ex-president while snipers were also on-guard on the rooftops of multi-storey buildings.
The police also blocked different roads for general traffic to ensure smooth passage for the motorcade of the PPP co-chairperson, who visited Jati Umra in Raiwind, JI Headquarters in Mansoora, and Chaudhrys’ Gulberg residence.
The VVIP movement caused worst traffic mess in different parts of Lahore including Multan Road, Canal Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg and Ferozepur Road as the police diverted the commuters towards already packed roads.
