Gearing up to fight dengue


LAHORE – Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister Mansha-Ullah Butt has said that the Environment Protection Department would utilise all resources for combating dengue.
Addressing a press conference at the Directorate of Public Relations Punjab, he said that the EPD played its role as regulatory, enforcement and awareness body during the dengue upsurge. He said that despite limited resources and manpower, the department had identified and eliminated 2066 larvae sites in the City.
FIRs had been registered against 65 government departments and 38 private tyre warehouses and junkyards where the dengue larvae were found during the course of dengue campaign. Besides, 118 factories and warehouses had also been sealed for producing dengue prone environment in the city.
Secretary EPD Sajjad Saleem Hotiana said that the Environment Department had cracked down on all probable dengue sites.
