LAHORE - Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab staged a sit in on Monday in front of Services Hospital to protest against target killing of doctors and to press for the demand of improving security at government hospitals.
Dozens of doctors gathered outside Services Hospital and staged a sit in on Jail Road, causing hours-long traffic jam on one of the busiest artery. Blockage of road caused huge inconvenience to the motorists and those coming to the Services Hospital and Punjab Institute of Cardiology for treatment. The YDA announced to stage a protest demonstration at Sheikh Zayed Hospital on Tuesday (today).
Service structure under review
Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Kh Salman Rafiq presided over a meeting held here Monday to review matters relating to promotion and service structure of doctors of general cadre. The participants decided to forward a summary to the CM for creating 10,000 vacancies of Grade 18, 19 and 20 to facilitate promotion of general cadre doctors.
Parliamentary Health Secretary Kh Imran Nazir, Health Secretary Jawad Rafiq Malik, Health DG Dr Zahid Pervaiz and Additional Secretary Adnan Zafar attended the meeting.
