Supervisory committees at districts, tehsils

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE The Punjab Government has decided to constitute supervisory committees at Tehsil and District levels for providing essential items at cheaper rates under Ramzan Package. These committees, consisting of 12 members at district level whereas six members at Tehsil level, will supervise holding of Ramzan Bazaars so that essential items could be provided to the people in abundance at cheaper rates. These committees will be set up till July 29. This decision was taken at a special meeting held under the chairmanship of Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa here on Saturday. Finance Minister Kamran Michael, Minister Zakat and Ushr Nadeem Kamran, Minister Food Ch Abdul Ghafoor, MNA Bilal Yasin, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Information, Secretary Industry, Commissioner Lahore and DCO Lahore were also present on the occasion. The meeting decided that trader community, civil society, MNA, MPA and Officers of Industry, Agriculture and Food Departments would be included in supervisory committees at district level. The meeting further decided that Minister for Excise & Taxation Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, will supervise the relief steps being provided to the people under Ramzan package in Lahore, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar in Rawalpindi division, Ch Abdul Ghafoor in Gujranwala division, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan in Faisalabad division, Kamran Michael and Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Begum Zakiya Shah Nawaz in Sargodha division, Minister Industry and Trade Sirdar Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa in DG Khan division, Minister Prisons Malik Iqbal Channar in Bahawalpur division, Nadeem Kamran in Sahiwal division and would select suitable persons for setting up supervisory committees. The meeting also decided that the ghee manufacturing companies would sell ghee of their brand at their sale point. Similarly rate of chicken meat would be fixed on daily basis, which will be sold from Rs 5 to 6 less than the market rate. Similarly, sugar dealers will sell sugar at Rs. 68.70 per kg at special sale point. Khosa directed that a vigilant eye should be kept on the prices during Ramzan and foolproof security should be provided in Ramzan Bazaars.
