Thermographic cameras to replace CCTV cameras in quest of greater vigilance

LAHORE - The Punjab government is all set to purchase thermographic cameras in a bid to further strengthen the security measures for the largest province of the country, in terms of population today.

Thermographic cameras, also called infrared or thermal imaging cameras, do not depend on light but can capture images in the dark. These high-tech cameras use infrared radiation and operate at wavelengths longer than that of ordinary cameras. These thermographic cameras will replace the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras installed across the province at sensitive locations.

The decision came after the military operation in North Waziristan Agency entered its second month.
