LAHORE - Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Monday kept monitoring moment to moment situation after arrival of the Awami Tehrik chief Tahirul Qadri’s aeroplane at Lahore airport.
The chief minister was kept informed about the arrival of aeroplane of Tahirul Qadri at Lahore airport and his visit to Jinnah Hospital. The chief minister also issued necessary instructions to provincial administration and senior officers of police about handling the situation. Workers of Awami Tehrik were given a free hand at the airport and Jinnah Hospital whereas special security arrangements were made for Tahirul Qadri. No untoward incident occurred at the airport and Jinnah Hospital due to personal interest and strategy of Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif. The chief minister reviewed the situation personally till late at night. The MMalso appreciated the restraint and tolerance shown by police despite torture by workers of Awami Tehrik.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was also kept abreast of the moment to moment development after the arrival of Qadri in the country.
Sources in the PML-N quarters confided that at a time deadlock had overtaken Dr Tahirul Qadri episode after he refused to come out of the plane, the Punjab Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar with the permission of the prime minister, met the PAT chief to break the stalemate and convince him to disembark from the plane.
The governor and Dr Sahib are old buddies and their relation worked to achieve the goal. Later, the governor briefed the PM and the CM on how he prevailed upon the ‘iron man’ who had come to the country with a clear cut goal of bringing revolution and turning around everything. Sources say the Governor also briefed the said functionaries about his interaction with Dr Qadri while he accompanied him to Jinnah Hospital where they inquired after the health of the injured of Minhaj incident.
