LAHORE: The LHC yesterday directed Home department to decide within a week an application filed by Sunni Tehreek’s leader Sarwat Ejaz Qadri against ban on his entry in Punjab.

Justice Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa passed the order with directions to the respondent department to inform the court about the decision.

As hearing commenced, advocate Usman Naseem argued on behalf of Qadri that the provincial home department imposed the impugned ban in violation of the petitioner’s fundamental rights.

The Home department had in Feb 2016 put the ban on Qadri’s entry to the province saying his presence could deteriorate peace.–Staff Reporter
