JHANG/MANDI BAHAUDDIN/SARGODHA/HAFIZABAD - At least nine persons including two women and a minor were killed and four others injured in separate incidents of violence, honour killing and road accidents over the past 24 hours.
According to detail, in Jhang at least five persons including a minor and a woman were killed and three other sustained serious injuries in separate incidents that took place in different parts of the district. In the first incident that occurred in Uch Gul Imam area, a drug-addict killed his wife over a petty family dispute. The drug-addict identified as Khursheed Shah, a resident of Uch Gul Imam area situated in the jurisdiction of Athara Hazari Police, demanded money from his wife namely Farahat Bibi to buy narcotics. But she refused to fulfil his demand at which he flared up and opened indiscriminate firing on her with the help of his accomplice Asif. Resultantly she sustained critical wounds and was rushed to Allied Hospital Faisalabad where she succumbed to her injuries. After autopsy, the police handed over the dead to her family. The police have registered a case against two nominated accused.
In another mishap a 28-year-old schoolteacher drowned into Chenab River while taking bathe. Reportedly one Baber Ali, son of Ghulam Sarwar, a resident of Chaudhry Colony Jhang along with his friends went to visit Tarimu Head. They started bathing in the river and in the meanwhile he went into deep water where he drowned. The divers of Rescue 1122 were searching for the body.
Similarly a 10-year-old minor student was electrocuted. Reportedly a minor child identified as shoaib, a resident of Jhang Saddr was getting religious education in a seminary in Gojra. He was taking water from a tap when he sustained electric shocks and breathed his last on the spot. The dead body was handed over to the family.
In another incident, a man was killed for honour. According to police sources, 25-year-old Tasleem Bibi, the sister of shoukat Ali, son of Nasir Ali Jappa, a resident of Thatha Mausa was married off to Ghulam Yaseem, son of Shair Muhammad Chadhar of the same village some time ago. After marriage Tasleem Bibi developed illicit relations with his father-in-law Shair Muhammad, on which his husband divorced her some days back. After divorce she resettled with her parents but she maintained her illicit relations with her previous father-in-law.
The other night Shair Muhammad came to her house to meet her. Meanwhile, her brother Shoukat Ali caught them red-handed in objectionable condition at which he became furious and opened indiscriminate firing on them. As a result Shair Muhammad was killed on the spot while Tasleem sustained critical wounds and was admitted to hospital. After medico-legal police handed over the body to heirs and registered a case against alleged accused. Yet in another road mishap which occurred on Jhang-Sargodha Road a car rider was killed. Reportedly one Rung Ali and his two companions were going to Karachi from Sargodha. When they reached Adda Bhon near Shakar Gang Sugar Mills a speeding tractor-trolley coming from opposite direction ran over the car. Resultantly Rung Ali died on the spot while two others got serious injuries and were admitted to DHQ Hospital. The Qadirpur Police have registered case against tractor-trolley drives.
In MANDI BAHAUDDIN, a married woman namely Shehnaz Bibi, a resident of Kuthala Sheikhan, a suburban village of Mandi Bahauddin, committed suicide after swallowing poisonous tablets allegedly over family dispute. She died before she could be evacuated to hospital for medical treatment.
In SARGODHA, a man was gunned down while another injured over an enmity in the remit of Shahnikdar Police here.The police said that Afzal Warriach of Warriach Group along with his accomplices was in his house at Chak 55-NB tehsil Sillanwali when six people of Raja Shukat Group, riding motorcycles allegedly opened firing on them.
Resultantly, Allah Ditta of Warriach Group died on the spot while Afzal Warriach sustained bullet injuries.
The police have registered a case against the accused.
Similarly in HAFIZABAD, a truck driver was shot dead on Sukheke-Lahore Road by five dacoits while a young man was died when he fell from his speeding bike on Vanike Road here on Saturday.
According to police report, driver Ghulam Shabbir was on the way to Lahore in his truck (TKK-578) when five dacoits near Sheroki village signalled him to stop but he accelerated the speed. Thereupon, dacoits opened indiscriminate firing on him, killing him on the spot. The police rushed to the spot and sent the dead body to the morgue for autopsy and registered a case against the unidentified accused.
According to local police, a young bike-rider Khurram of Bijli Mohallah was heading to a nearby place on Vanike Road while attempting to save a woman fell down from the bike and sustained fatal injuries and was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
