Aisam to pair with India's Bopanna in French Open

LAHORE - Pakistan's tennis star Aisamul Haq Qureshi will be pairing with India's leading player Rohan Bopanna in the doubles event of the French Open Tennis Championship that starts in Paris from May 25. The pair, formidable as it, is likely to make headlines since this is the first time that two leading players from the South Asian rivals will team up in a grand slam. This is being billed as a landmark in Aisam's career as he will raise Pakistan's flag in yet another grand slam after appearing in the Wimbledon Tennis Championship and the US Open Championship. The pair is currently featuring in an ATP Challenger Tournament in New Delhi. In a joint statement issued by the pair from New Delhi, they said, "We played together at ATP Challenger and tour level last year and early this year but will be playing together for the first time at the grandslam level. We are excited and are keenly looking forward to show our skills on the Roland Garross Courts together." Aisam is ranked 67th in the world doubles ranking and Rohan is 58th. They are both hard hitters and they have lot of experience in the international arena. Aisam will proceed to Paris on Saturday.
