LAHORE - A newlywed couple was found strangled from an open plot in Manga Mandi area, police said on Sunday.
Investigators believe the couple was strangled to death by their relatives in the name of ‘honour’.
24-year-old Yaseen and 20-year-old Nabeela had contracted love marriage couple of months ago. Since then, they were living in a rented apartment in the limits of Manga Mandi police station. Some passersby spotted the bodies in an empty plot early on Sunday and disclosed the happening to the police by phone.
Investigators rushed to the crime scene and moved the bodies to the morgue. Police sources say the unidentified killers abducted the couple, strangled them to death somewhere, and fled after throwing their bodies in the plot.
A double-murder case has been registered against unidentified killers and the police are investigating with no arrest made yet.
CRUSHED TO DEATH: A seven-year-old boy was crushed to death by a rashly-driven mini truck in Nolakha area, police said on Sunday.
Eyewitnesses told the police that the boy, identified as Muhammad Rafique, was begging at a traffic signal along with his mother when the reckless driver ran over him. The boy died on the spot, while the driver fled the scene. Police are investigating.
