PEF to launch EVS in 13 districts

LAHORE - The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has planned to launch Education Voucher Scheme (EVS) in 13 different districts of the province where deserving children are unable to get education due to lack of resources. As per the scheme PEF will provide Rs350 pre month to each student besides providing text books. Chairman PEF, Raja Muhammad Anwar said this while talking to a 10 member delegation of a voluntary organisation namely Education, Health & Development Foundation headed by its President Raja Fazil Hussain, at his office on Saturday. On the occasion, Project Officer (EVS) Shafique Ahmed was also present. Raja Anwar informed the delegation that EVS was going to be launched in the districts of Bhakkar, Khushab, Mianwali, Okara, Gujrat, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Muzaffargarh and Vehari during the current fiscal year. EVS will enable the poor girls and boys of these districts to get quality education, he told. The PEF chairman maintained that EVS has emerged as a big boon to educate the children of deserving communities. This scheme is especially beneficial for the girl students as they get opportunity of free education near to their door steps, he explained. Punjab Education Foundation will provide quality education to a total number of 40 thousand students through EVS in Punjab. Public Private Partnership has been found beneficial to provide quality education to the deserving communities, Raja maintained. He asked the NGOs to open more number of schools in slums and remote areas. dren of these localities could be educated with the support of the local community.
