LAHORE A 30-year-old youth was gunned down by a rival group over old enmity near Bhogiwal in Gujjarpura police precincts on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Liaquat Ali, resident of China Scheme, Bhogiwal. Police investigators, associated with this case, quoting previous history said Liaquat Ali had shot injured one Shahbaz in the year 2010 and a case (1410/10) was also registered against Liaquat on the statement of Shahbaz. Liaquat Ali was jailed but after he paid Rs 0.1 million to Shahbaz the issue was settled. Here on the day of incident, Shahbaz along with his accomplices approached Liaquat and sprayed volley of bullets on him resultantly he died on the spot. Minutes after the incident, a good number of police contingents reached the spot and removed the body to the City morgue for autopsy. A case has been lodged against the accused on the statement of Wasif Ali, paternal nephew of the deceased. Further investigations are underway with no arrest till filing of this report. Drug addict burnt to death: A 50-year-old alleged drug addict was burnt to death in Gulshan Iqbal police area on Sunday. Police concerned said the deceased, yet to be identified, was smoking drugs when his clothes caught fires near Kareem Block. More than half of his body was severely burnt. Locals, however, rushed him to the Jinnah Hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. Police made numerous announcements but none of the citizens claimed to own the body, which was removed to the morgue.
