3 wardens hunted for corruption

LAHORE Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) SSP Syed Ahmed Mobin hunted another three wardens involved in monetary corruption in Model Town Traffic Sector here on Friday evening. A case has also been lodged against the accused wardens with the Muslim Town police station on the same day. Insiders claimed the traffic wardens including Mohammad Akram, Babar Virk and Raheel Goraya were deputed in Model Town Sector some days back and they were discharging their duties near Muslim Town Morr on Thursday. They intercepted a vehicle on violating traffic rules, they added. They first demanded legal documents from the driver Imran Ahmed otherwise, they threatened him of confiscating his vehicle, the source added. After brief negotiation they demanded Rs 5,000 bribe from Imran who gave them Rs 2,800 and promised to give the remaining amount on next day, they added. Ali Nawaz, PRO to CTO, said, on Friday the driver Imran approached Ahmed Mobin and revealed the whole story on which he tasked the matter to Abdul Ghani, DSP Model Town Sector, to probe into the matter. Ali further told Imran reached the site and called on the aforesaid traffic wardens and gave them remaining Rs 2,200 and received his official documents, which they had already confiscated on Thursday on condition of providing them the remaining amount of Rs 2,200.
