Workers besiege SNGPL office


LAHORE – The contract meter readers of SNGPL from various cities of the province on Friday staged protest demonstration and besieged the Company’s head office for more than two hours in order to get permanent employment.
One of the protesting meter reader namely Kaleemullah, a resident of Mianchannu, had a cardiac arrest during the protest and died at hospital.
The SNGPL employees said the protesters started stone pelting on the Company’s office and forcibly entered into the office and as a result of their siege, the employees of the company locked themselves in the office, they added.
While the protestors said that the company top management and the PPP government were the responsible of the death of the poor employee.
 “The SNGPL is hiring more employees on political pressure instead of regularising them,” said the protesting workers while chanting slogans against the SNGPL top management and PPP government at front of the Sir Gangaram Hospital late at night where their colleague was died.
