LAHORE - A judicial magistrate on Friday sent a lady to jail on 14-day judicial remand who was allegedly involved in torturing a house-maid. As proceedings started, police produced Maryam, the accused, in a judicial magistrate of Cantt Court. The police requested the judge to hand over the accused lady to them on five-day physical remand. However, the judge sent her on 14-day judicial remand. Defence phase V residents Maryam and her husband Sikandar were detained for torturing house-maid Munaazza over a petty issue. Police reached on the spot after an informant told them about the incident. Police registered FIR against Maryam on the application filed by the parents of the house-maid. Meanwhile, Special Anti-Corruption Court issued non-bail able arrest warrants for Irrigation Department sub-engineer Khalid Iqbal allegedly committing corruption in development funds provided for canals. Anti-Corruption Establishment lodged an FIR against him and presented challan in the court but despite that the accused did not appear. As this, this court issued arrest warrants for him.
