Careless mum caught for contempt


LAHORE - The Guardian Court No 1 issued arrest warrants for Saira, the daughter of former president Lahore Chamber of Commerce Chairman (LCCI) Anjum Nisar for contempt of court in a children custody matter here on Wednesday.
The court had barred her from taking children abroad but ignoring court orders she took her children to Dubai. The father of the children Rizwan Sehgal filed a contempt of court petition and submitted that the respondent committed contempt of court by taking children abroad. The court after hearing the arguments issued arrest warrant of Saira.
As per details, the owner of Sehgal Group of Industries Rizwan Riaz Sehgal married with former president of LCCI Anjum Nisar’s daughter. After the wedlock, they were blessed with two children, Furqan and Bakhtawar.
After sometime, differences between the couple surfaced which finally resulted into a separation.
They both had filed suits before the guardian court requesting the court for the custody of the children.
DSP and constable acquitted
The Lahore High Court on Wednesday acquitted a DSP and constable upholding sentence of four other police officers in a case registered on court orders for burning 29 lawyers in Sahiwal during lawyer’s movement.
A division bench headed by Justice Tariq Masood upheld the judgment of Anti Terrorism Court Faisalabad and dismissed the appeal of Inspector Rana Muhammad Akram, Azhar Abbas Gill and Shafqat Mehmood Azeem Kamboh and Sub-Inspector Rao Shafqat Ali against conviction.
The cops who are lucky to win acquittal are DSP Talat Ali and Constable Ghulam Mustafa as the division bench has given them benefit of doubt. The court ordered to release them.
The court has declared ASP Fida Hussain Shah a proclaimed offender who has not surrendered yet.
The bench also dismissed appeal against acquittal of then DPO Sahiwal Javed Hussain Shah. While, another accused DSP Moeen Hafeez Butt had died during the pendency of this appeal, however, the court also dismissed his appeal.
The police had registered case on the complaint Muhammad Usman Advocate against police officials on directions of the court when the judges were restored following the lawyers movement.
