LAHORE: A one-week polio drive will be launched in five southern districts of Punjab from June 27 to July 4 after a positive environmental sample was found in Dera Ghazi Khan in recent days.
Adviser to Chief Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that the drive will be carried out in Multan, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan.
Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Ali Jan Khan said that the special drive was being launched after a positive environmental sample was found in Dera Ghazi Khan.
“The presence of the virus in the environment means we cannot afford complacency,” he said.
During the drive, around 23, 51,014 children in 281 union councils of the five districts will be give polio drops.
