2 impersonators, senior staff held from exam centre

LAHORE - EDO Education Dr Arshad Wednesday paid a surprise visit to a local examination centre and made senior staff and two impersonators arrested at the hand of police. Sources in the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education told the scribe that on the day of incident EDO Education received information that in Government High School Chouburji Garden examination centre for the ongoing matriculation exams some candidates were involved in using unfair means with the connivance of senior staff of the centre. On receiving information EDO raided the said school and found that Shahid an MSc-qualified was engaged in solving paper of Imran who was absent from the seat. Similarly Mudasar Manzoor was also facilitating some one. Both the candidates were also being facilitated by Mehmud-ul-Hassan superintendent of centre and Ijaz Ahmad, a deputy superintendent. Sources told The Nation that superintendent is a lecturer of MAO College, while deputy superintendent is from Ferozewala. EDO caught the staff and impersonators red handed and handed over them to police station Layton Road. An invigilator was also found involved and was brought to book. Sources claimed that staff of the centre had received heavy amount as bribe against the facility provided to the impersonators. An FIR has been registered against the accused under boards, universities Malpractice Act 1950 Amended 1999. PEF launches FAS phase-6 at 10 districts The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has formally launched phase-6 of the Foundation Assisted Schools (FAS) programme at Rawalpindi and other adjoining districts by signing agreement with 90 partner schools. The ceremony was held on Wednesday. Besides partner schools management, PEF Chairman Raja M Anwar, MD Mohyuddin Wani and other officers of the Foundation were also present on the occasion. As many as two lakh students will benefit from the phase-6 in 10 districts of the province. According to the plan, 45,000 deserving students of 90 different private schools of Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Bhakar, Khushab and Mianwali will be benefited by this flagship programme, which is designed to provide monthly assistance of Rs 350 to elementary and Rs 400 for secondary students, for getting free education. The PEF will enter into an agreement, for phase-6 of the FAS programme, with partner schools of Sargodha, MB Din, Narowal and Sialkot districts in the next step.
