National Women Football Club: Rawalpindi club move into super league

LAHORE - Rawalpindi 's Young Rising Star joined Vehari's Young Rising Star in four-team super league of first National Women Football Club Championship 2008 when they overwhelmed Peshawar 's FATA Club 3-0 at OPF Ground, Sector H/8, Islamabad in Group-C today. Asima Tehseen and Nadia Bhatti kept their style of scoring in every match  with more goals. Midfielder Asima broke the deadlock in the ninth minute and four minutes later winger Nadia Bhatti moved in from right wing to make it 2-0. Asima scooped her second with 26th minute free-kick as winners led 3-0 at interval. There was no scoring in second session. Both, Asima and Nadia, kept themselves in hunt for top scorer award with four goals each. In another Group-c tie, the identical scoreline was recorded when  Islamabad's Margala Club were caught in off-color day and suffered 0-3 defeat at the hands of  Balochistan United at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad . Fast-moving front-runner Riffat Mehdi gave no room to rivals with two solo-effort goals in the 16th and 25th minute. Balochistan United led 2-0 at interval and added third in the final minute of the game through midfielder Shahida. Meanwhile, the Group-A match belong to WP Club who brushed aside  Fatima Club 4-0 in all-Lahore affair at Punjab University, Old Campus Ground, Lahore. Midfielder Aqeela Naseem and striker Shahbana Kausar struck twice in the match in which Fatima Club failed to show anything of praise and went out of contention with no point in two outings. WP club led Group-A with six points, followed by Sports science WFC and Lahore Fighters with three points each. WP Club put the things under control three minutes after kick-off when she hammered the opener. Striker Shabana Kausar made it 2-0 in the 19th minutye as WP club led 2-0 at interval. Shabana steered her second in the 52nd minute and Aqeela rounded off the tally with her second few seconds before final whistle. There will be no match on Sunday. The event will resume on Monday (26 May) when WP Club will take on Lahore Fighter at Punjab University, Old Campus Ground, Lahore.
