LAHORE Dacoits on Tuesday struck another bank in broad daylight here in Factory Area police jurisdiction and fled away after collecting Rs 2.5 million at gunpoint, police sources claimed. Four robbers equipped with automatic weapons barged into the UBL branch situated opposite to the Lahore General Hospital (LGH) at Ferozepur Road on early Tuesday. The robbers damaged the security alarms installed in the bank as they forced their entry into the bank branch and held up the staff and visitors at gunpoint. The dacoits parked their car (white-colour Suzuki Cultus) outside the bank and entered one by one, Muhammad Zaman, an eyewitness told reporters at the crime scene. He also said that the robbers were bearded men and aged between 22 to 24. The bandits collected Rs 2.5 million besides other valuables and fled away from the crime scene without facing any resistance, police sources said. The police concerned reached the spot after considerable delay and collected video clips taken from the Close Circuit Cameras (CCTVs) installed in the bank. The police have also registered the case and are investigating with no arrest made so far. It is worth mentioning here that it was the second daylight bank robbery in the same police station during the last one month. The incidents of bank robberies have registered a considerable increase during the last couple of months. According to reports, no less than four branches of different banks have been looted at gunpoint in Mozang, Township and Factory Area police station during the last couple of months. The police have failed to trace the any of the gangsters involved in such brazen armed robberies.
