LAHORE - The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has told the Lahore High Court that government of United Kingdom has refused asylum to Asim Malik, owner of Future Concerns, allegedly involved in fraud of billions of rupees, and his wife Zobia Rubab and efforts are being made to bring them back to the country.
As the proceedings started, a legal advisor of foreign ministry appeared before the bench and stated that UK government rejected application moved by Asim Malik and his wife Zobia for asylum in the country and they would be handed over to Pakistani authorities as soon as legal procedure was completed by immigration authorities there in UK.
Earlier, the court had directed the foreign ministry to submit a detained report on its performance regarding the arrest of Asim Malik, the accused of embezzlement of millions of rupees taken in the name of visa consultancy.  Federal Investigation Agency furnished a report in the court on immovable properties of both Asim and Zobia in Pakistan, saying that administrations of three districts were using delaying tactics in the auction of the properties. On it, the court summoned DCOs of all three districts Lahore, Khushab and Sargodha.
About 190 cases were pending against the accused in the LHC. The petitioners through their counsel stated that the suspect was freely living and enjoying a luxurious life abroad but the government did nothing to take him back. They said the government should be directed to get the suspect arrested through Interpol as the suspects of NICL scam were brought back to the country. After hearing the arguments, the court adjourned further proceedings until November 7. Meanwhile, Mubashar Lucman submitted an application along with a medical certificate saying that he was ill and was admitted to a hospital in Islamabad. The bench will resume hearing on Nov 7.
REPLY SOUGHT FROM PUNJAB GOVT: The Lahore High Court Friday directed Punjab government to submit reply on a petition filed against Aitchison College’s board of governors (BoGs) and change in admission policy for class K-II.
The petition was moved by Fasihuddin, Sarah Khan and other former Aitchisonians.
The petitioners had also challenged the appointment of 19 members to BoGs including Dr Sardar Ali Sadiq, son of national assembly speaker, Advocate Mustafa Ramday, son of retired Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday, Information Technology Board Chairman Umar Saif, Syed Babar Ali and Dr Pervez Hassan.

The counsel prayed the court to cancel all impugned acts of the BoGs and direct the college to revise its K-II lists in strict accordance with earlier-notified admissions criteria for 2014. the counsel also pleaded the court to set aside the appointment of the members of the BoGs.
After hearing the arguments, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah directed an assistant advocate general to submit reply on the next hearing. The proceedings adjourned for two weeks.
